We are Alex and Beth Harding, along with our crazy fab-five kids: Chloe, Penelope, Ezekiel, Malachi and Martha. We go by “reallifehardings” because we’ve made a lot of mistakes, we are LOUD, messy, and someone is usually crying at any given moment, but we like our life this way. Jesus has called us to be real with others, and real with ourselves! What you see, is what you get!
Jesus rocked our world through His never-ending grace and love, so we’ve made Him our very best friend. Our heart is to follow Him everywhere, and serve and love others like He has to us along the way!
God has lead us to Uganda, Africa to share a little bit of our crazy with the people here! We visited Uganda in August 2016 and God strongly and clearly confirmed our calling to pursue ministry in Uganda with Arise Africa International and Pastor Godfrey. Our hearts are to serve along side Arise in the primary and secondary schools as well as their babies home. We aim to show, share and teach the love of Christ with the youth of Uganda and we need your help! Please consider partnering with our family through prayer and financially supporting our efforts.
WHAT OUR MINISTRY LOOKS LIKE IN UGANDA:
Our role with Arise Africa International is definitely starting to come into clarity now. After spending lots of time with the Director, Pastor Godfrey, he has come up with a plan for us to be used most effectively here.
Three days a week Alex will be going to Bukaleba to spend time at the Secondary school. His role there is not perfectly defined yet, but his main focus is discipleship. Every Wednesday he leads a bible study and throughout the week, works hard to build relationships with students through fellowship and sports. He is also taking on an administration role at the school and, possibly, a teaching role in the future. Through the first year his focus will remain mostly on the Secondary school but, over time, will also expand to the Primary school as well. He is trying hard to ease into this position and learn as much as possible in the process. He has already began building strong relationships with some of the students and teachers. Please pray for God’s anointing as he continues to serve in the schools.
Two days a week Alex is working in the Arise Africa International office here in Jinja. His focus is is to build relationships with the administration and staff and to work on the website and social media focus at Arise. The organization is making great progress in these areas with a new website under construction and a social media strategy beginning to come into focus. Over the past two years AAI’s sustainability projects have been heavily affected by the drought. This has caused them to lose over $80,000 in income. Our prayer as an organization is that through social media and our website we can bring awareness to the work we do and to raise support to help us increase the Kingdom of God here in Africa.
Beth and the kids have officially started homeschool and are starting to settle into this new system. Our kids are doing so well with the transition that half of the time we do not think they fully understand we live in a different country! Beth and the kids have also been able to come to the school, meet some of the students and spend some time playing with the babies at the babies home in Bukaleba. As we start to really settle into a more concrete homeschooling schedule our plan is to travel as a family once a week to Bukaleba and spend time with the babies doing a bible study on their level and crafts to help them understand it. Please continue to pray for Beth as she takes on this new role and our kids as they continue to transition!
Please continue to pray for our family and the ministry we are doing here at Arise Africa International. God is doing great things and we know the best it yet to come!
